ABCs of Safe Sleep
Caption
Whether preparing for your baby’s arrival or settling into life with a newborn, building safe sleep habits is one of the most meaningful ways you can care for your little one. By remembering to always place your baby Alone, on their Back, and in a Crib, you provide a healthy start for them and peace of mind for you.
Every day is a new opportunity for safe sleep. Together with Every Birth Network, an initiative of Healthier Moms and Babies, we’re here to help you build a routine you can trust.

Common Misconceptions
Caption
Worried your baby might choke if they spit up while sleeping on their back? Here is the safe sleep fact: Babies are actually safer on their backs!
When a baby is on their back, their airway sits above the stomach tube, and gravity naturally keeps spit-up down. On their stomach, spit-up can easily pool at the opening of the airway.
With support from Every Birth Network, an initiative of Healthier Moms and Babies, you can find the practical information you need to help protect your baby during every sleep. Get clear answers at EveryBirth.org/safe-sleep.
Daily Habits
Caption
Every moment with your baby is an opportunity to build healthy routines that protect them as they grow. Here are simple steps you can take every day:
✅ Keep baby's crib or bassinet in your room close to your bed for at least the first six months, but never bring baby into your bed to sleep.
✅ Remove all loose blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, comforters and bumper pads.
✅ Keep baby comfortable in wearable layers or a properly sized sleep sack instead of blankets.
Building safe habits is a journey you take one day at a time. Explore more resources from Every Birth Network, an initiative of Healthier Moms and Babies, at EveryBirth.org/safe-sleep.
General Awareness
Caption
Protecting our littlest community members takes a village! Building safe sleep habits is one of the most meaningful ways we can care for babies across Fort Wayne and Allen County, right from the start.
Safe sleep simply means creating an environment based on trusted medical evidence to give every baby the safest rest possible. When parents, grandparents, babysitters and neighbors share the same facts, we build a strong foundation of safety for every family.
I am proud to partner with Every Birth Network, an initiative of Healthier Moms and Babies, to spread awareness and support local families.
