Our Focus Areas
The Every Birth Network collaborates to improve infant and maternal health outcomes in key areas as identified in the Allen County Infant Mortality Report.
Maternal
Mental Health
Feelings of sadness, anxiety, and overwhelm can occur during pregnancy and after birth. In Indiana, mental health–related causes are a leading contributor to maternal mortality. In response, the Every Birth Network focuses on providing tools, resources, and educational opportunities that support conversations about mental health between families and healthcare providers or others involved in their care.
Safe Sleep
Education
Welcoming a new baby brings many changes, including new questions about infant sleep and safety. Many sleep-related infant deaths are preventable. The Every Birth Network focuses on providing education, resources, and support to help families understand safe sleep recommendations and feel more confident in putting their infants to sleep safely.
Preterm Labor Awareness
Labor that begins before 37 weeks of pregnancy can increase health risks for both the baby and the pregnant person. Understanding early warning signs can support timely care. The Every Birth Network focuses on providing education and resources to help families recognize these signs and understand when to contact a healthcare provider if concerns arise.
Fetal Movement Monitoring
Tracking fetal movement is a simple, evidence-based way to monitor a baby’s well-being during the third trimester. The Every Birth Network focuses on educating families about how and why to count kicks daily, helping them recognize typical patterns and understand when to contact a healthcare provider if they notice changes.
